| well heres the thing, my friend is a super aggressive player, hell raise like hes got the nuts everytime... im more of a tight but aggressive player... and more on the cautious side as well. ive been called by my friend when he has mediocre hands because he claims he likes playin against me... and normally this would be great but its not when i have a pocket pair, and often i dont hit the flop. ive tried raising all in after i miss the flop, hoping on a draw, and ive tried everything else all the way down to checking after i miss the flop... i just cant figure out what to do. i mean not hitting flops is probably my biggest problem, lastnight for example i had AdQd... he calls me... the flop comes Kd Xx Td... hes first to act and he raises, i call... the turn comes Xx... he raises, and i move all in... now i found out he had J-T in his hand... he thought long and hard and called, and i believe he also had a slight draw. did i play this wrong? i can name other hands where ive got the 2-1 favorite preflop and miss the flop and hell play with me with 2nd pair or even 3rd pair, just cause he claims, 'i cant get away from big hands'... but there will be high cards on the board... so is he just getting lucky that im not hitting flops? hell bet and reraise me everytime too like hes got the best hand, this is my biggest problem, because when i have the 2nd pair with a good kicker i get knocked outta pots... what are the ways to play against this player ... how should i play against this sort of super aggressive player? |

| PS... he is very confident he can break me in a pot, which is why he now calls me alot when everyone else folds, always claiming 'im gambling', or 'i hope i get lucky'... and when i dont hit a flop im screwed. but my point is hes very confident of being able to break me in any pot, with top pair or 3rd pair... this may factor into your advice, thanks again |

| i just thought of another hand... i had JJ, he had A9s... the flops comes K-Q-X... i believe he was first to act and he raised... i called hoping for the J, the turn comes X... meaning no help to either of us and again i completely miss... he raises, i say aloud, i think im gonna go all-in, because his raise was 100, i had 205 left... immediately after i said that, he says 'i call' and then my friend points out to him that i said 'i think im gonna go all-in' my friend says jokingly, ' i guess thats a tell, haha'... then while im thinking he says 'i love all this calling cause im me' and 'if you raise all-in im gonna call' and 'regardless of the next card im putting u all-in'... now i realize these were obvious tells, but i was getting mixed signals from him... that i call when i said i think im gonna go all in told me i was beat, and the plan was hit the set on the turn or fold... so did i play this right? he may have been on a draw, i forget... but regardless what would u have done with all that said? |

the easiest way to beat this kinda player, it wait, patience... if u hit top pair... TRAP HIM... dont bet/raise til river, where u can take a large portion of his stack...
do tell what kind of stack sizes/blinds you guys are playign with, because that also matters |

| well we start off with $500 in chips (tourney style) 5-10 blinds, 2nd level 10-20, etc... and the hand im referring to above it was 10-20 blinds. well i understand to wait for a nice flop, but half the time i doubt he even has it, and thats whats frustrating about laying down hands i know are much better preflop than his, but miss completely on the flop... especially when i specifically raise a good amount to keep out hands like that |

Indeed, the only way to play against this kind of player is to play it tight and play premium hands. Pay to see the flop if you can afford it, but don't be afraid to fold if nothing comes out.
He will raise, and he will come over the top of you if he is that agressive, so if you hit that premium hand he will be donating a large portion of his stack to you. |
